The Smoke That Wouldn’t Stay
It began as something simple — an Iberico pig farmer in Monticello, a man devoted to his craft, his animals, and the slow magic of fire. He brought people together with smoke and skill, and for one unforgettable weekend, the fairgrounds came alive. Flames danced, laughter echoed, and the scent of barbecue lingered long after the last ember faded. But not everyone welcomed the fire.
Whispers spread through the township. Concerns. Doubts. A reluctance to embrace something they didn’t fully understand. And though the crowds came and the competitors answered the call, the support the farmer needed never truly took root. Then, something strange happened. The smoke didn’t settle.
Long after the event ended, it drifted… stretching beyond the fairgrounds, curling through the hills as if searching for a new place to rest. Some say the spirit of the pit — the same one tied to the legend of the Haunted Hog — refused to be confined. It needed open ground. Willing hands. A place where the fire could burn without hesitation. So the farmer made a choice. He would follow the smoke.
Spooky Q will return. The flames will rise again.
But next time, it will be somewhere new — a location yet to be revealed, chosen not by convenience, but by where the fire feels most at home.
Until then, the smoke travels.
And the legend grows.
